PREACHING
Our minister takes the Word of God seriously as He “…has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Pt. 1:3). Typically, the sermon will last 30-35 minutes. The primary translation used is the New American Standard Bible 1995. For more information on this, see our “What we Believe and Teach” page by clicking here.

PRAYER
There are countless ways to show our appreciation to God. One of them is prayer. Scripture tells us that we are to seek the face of God (1 Chron. 16:11); pray in the Spirit (Eph. 6:`18); and pray without ceasing (1 These. 5:16-20). During the service, you will notice that various men will lead a variety of prayers (opening prayer, family prayer, communion, etc.). We believe that men leading prayer is in accordance with Paul’s command in 1 Tim. 2:8.
-
SINGING
One of the things you will notice in our worship is the lack of mechanical instruments. We believe, according to Scripture (Eph. 5:18-19, Col. 3:16, 1 Cor. 14:15, Heb. 2:12), that we are to sing to one another using our voices alone. For this reason, you will also not find choirs, praise teams, or soloists. The hymns can be found in the hymnals on the pews and projected onto the screen.
-
COMMUNION
Upon entering the foyer, you will see several trays with sealed communion cups containing both a piece of unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (non-alcoholic grape juice). Communion is offered every Sunday morning and evening during the service. For more information on why we do this, click here.
-
CONTRIBUTION
Near the end of the service, just after we have taken communion, a prayer will be offered for the contribution. As a visitor, you are not expected to give and you will not be pressured to give. Our weekly giving is to ensure the continued work of the Freetown Road Church of Christ. For more information, click here.
