Living in the Presence of God
It's easy for us to get caught up in the busyness of life, constantly worrying about the past or the future. But let me remind you, dear friends, that our past is behind us, and the future is not guaranteed. What truly matters is the here and now and the presence of our loving Heavenly Father in every moment.
In Philippians 3:13-14, the apostle Paul writes, "Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." These verses beautifully encapsulate the essence of living in the present moment with God. We are encouraged to let go of our past, with all its mistakes, regrets, and failures. Instead, we are to focus on the present, embracing the opportunities and blessings that God has placed before us.
Jesus Himself teaches us the importance of living in the present moment. In Matthew 6:34, He says, "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Jesus reminds us that worrying about the future only hinders our ability to experience God's presence in the present fully. When we trust Him, we can rest assured that He will take care of our tomorrows.
So how can we practically live in the present moment with God? It starts with cultivating a deep and intimate relationship with Him through prayer and studying His Word. When we spend time in His presence, we become more attuned to His leadership and guidance. We learn to trust in His sovereignty and to surrender our worries and anxieties into His capable hands.
Moreover, let us not forget the power of gratitude. Gratitude helps us appreciate our blessings in the present moment and shifts our focus away from past regrets or future uncertainties. As Psalm 118:24 reminds us, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Each day is a gift from God, and we are called to embrace it with joy and thanksgiving.
Living in the present moment with God is a beautiful and transformative way to experience His love, peace, and joy. Let go of the past, release your worries about the future, and fully embrace the here and now. Remember the words of Isaiah 43:18-19, "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?" Open your heart to the present moment, and allow God to reveal the wonders He has in store for you.
